For fans of the Crossroad series of Board Games produced by Plaid Hat games, the Crossroads Companion App provides another level of immersion. Currently supports the "Dead of Winter" Board Game with future support for the other games in the Crossroads series.
The App is a replacement for the Crossroads deck. But its not a simple substitute for its cardboard counterpart. The App presents the information on the cards in stages. First the trigger is shown. Next the narrative text is displayed along with the Thematic options for each tough choice. When players have chosen an option, only then will the gameplay outcome be displayed.

Crossroads Companion App app good for
Makes game setup a little easier, and having the conditions on one side keeps it simple. The voice overs add to the theme. Wish it had integration with the custom deck builder, and a searchable set of rules/faq. The app shows "development version" on the bottom.
I love this app. I always use this when i play.
Works great on my iphone 6s+
Works great iPhone 6+. Great narration. Same cards kept coming up but found shuffle in settings menu. Would be nice to de/select certain cards. Ambient snow sound good is nice touch.
Some bad moments
Loved the app when we first got it. Just played a game tonight and it was SO glitchy. I have a 6Splus and its gully updated. The options gear didnt work and neither did the "play" button for any of the voice readings. Also, some cards skipped right past the main text w/ options and just auto-chose one. Not good. We went back to the cards. Hopefully there will be an update soon.
Good app but should give the option to add or remove promo characters!
The long awaited Crossroads app for Dead of Winter is here! This app simulates the crossroads deck, and improves the theme of the game. The app provides the experience of only providing the options of the crossroads card, instead of showing the outcomes. The audio is greatly improved with the narration by Eric Summerer. Passing the device may or may not work for some groups. Also, the app could use the option to include promos as appropriate - hopefully this is coming soon.
Everytime I choose "settings" or "play" button, the app keeps cancelling my choice.
I was excited to see this release as it simplifies game set up and adds a new element of drama. Unfortunately it doesnt work on an iPhone 6 Plus, it will not allow me to select settings or click play on the audio.
Normally I wouldnt pay for a companion app for a game I didnt own, (though I definitely would get this if I owned DoW) but Ive met Emerson and hes a great guy who Im happy to boost anytime I can.
